Party Girl

Last night, Lea attended her first party with more than 10 people present. Her mother and I were very concerned that she would only last about 30 minutes before melting down into a screaming fit. Our concerns steamed from the fact that the get together was taking place in the midst of Lea's normal fussy time, and she had a rough day already.



Yet all our worries were for nought. She was excellent. Happy and awake. Lea lasted over three hours at the party. She enjoyed a little Pass the Baby playing. She met some future playmates in Maren and Mila.



Now after getting home, Lea was not the normal 'happy to go to sleep' baby that she usually is.

Oma and Opa Sand

Lea received a nice visit from Grandma and Grandpa Sand. They were able to cross into Iowa for most of Saturday and Sunday morning. Lea was soooo excited to see her visitors that she refused to sleep all afternoon and even had to speak her mind in several high pitched shouts. Thankfully, her grandparents raised four boys who pounded on each other most of their lives, so a fussy little girl was not too big of a deal. Sunday morning Lea did work up some happy faces and smiles before her grandparents left for the homeland.

In related news, Lea slept all day and all night Sunday. Just a bit worn out. Kids...

Happy St. Paddy's Day

Although not Irish myself (though my middle name is Patrick, and not sure if we'll be celebrating any famous German or Czech saints soon--although I believe Santa Claus is heavily influenced by German traditions--not sure why I typed that), I'm told Lea is in the neighborhood of 1/32 Irish. Unfortunately she is not quite ready to march in the parade. So happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.

Crack the Bottle REMIX

Lea is a quick little girl. Since her first bottle, which a portion of the contents landed on her face rather than in her stomach, Lea has had two more bottles. She has become a near expert at taking a bottle--much my (Steve/Dad) enjoyment. As she eats from the bottle, Lea gives me a look like she's shocked that she's getting fed from me rather than her mother. It's kinda funny to watch. Regardless, Kate and I now have two ways to feed our little one. So much for that fear of her not wanting to eat.
